I found Akalapuzha Homestay while searching for an affordable single night spot during a long drive from Kannur to Ernakulam Cochin; it’s actually a family’s residence renting out a space on the first floor. The living area has a divan couch and a carom board if you want to play. The room was XXL, with cubbyholes, a big mirror, a table, a chair, and a queen‑size bed that was very comfortable. The air conditioner worked perfectly. The attached toilet/bath was immaculately clean, had all the necessary amenities, and a water heater for hot water. I was offered a homely breakfast, which, as a Keralite, felt just like home. Overall, it was a great stay at a very reasonable price. The host was friendly and welcoming, and I could park my car in the indoor porch safely and conveniently. Since it’s a family home, the gate closes at 10:00 PM; the entrance is through the main door, so going out and back late can disturb the family. Kozhikode beach is 27 KM away from the property. The only downside is that the main‑door entrance can make late‑night exits inconvenient, but it’s ideal for families or travelers seeking a clean, homely stay while exploring Kannur or Kozhikode.
