The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the hotel’s restaurant and lounge bar are dedicated to the property. The room was clean and comfortable. However, when I arrived the room was very cold, likely because the window was open and the outside temperature was low. The shower in the bathtub with a curtain was somewhat uncomfortable.

The location is excellent and the breakfast is excellent. Nothing to add.

The hotel and village setting are nice, and it’s near Ballater with plenty of outdoor activities. I stayed on a Friday night, which can be hit or miss at a hotel/pub. It was very noisy after closing, so I couldn’t sleep.

The food was excellent, tasty, and served hot; lunch, breakfast, and dinner were all high standard and excellent. The room was nice, though a bit dark, making it hard to do makeup because it’s under the stairs and the bathroom mirror lacks light. Aside from that, it was very comfortable and clean.
