“Large, new, comfy, quiet rooms (Farmhouse) and the BEST breakfast in our 13 days in Iceland.”
We stayed at the white farmhouse, a few hundred yards from the main hotel where breakfast was served, and it was one of the best stops on our 11‑stop ring road trip; the 3–4 rooms along a short private hallway looked brand new and were well decorated, with a mini‑fridge in the hallway for chilled items—a rare bonus in Iceland; the large bedroom windows offered beautiful views of hills and fields; breakfast was the absolute highlight, with a wide array of homemade and local meats, cheeses, pastries, skyr, nuts, fruit, oatmeal, cereals, coffee, tea, juices, and more, presented beautifully in a room with a full wall of windows overlooking grassy lowlands, rivers, and horses; the owner communicated well via email, recommending a nearby farm for horse riding; everything was inviting and exceptional, like a place Icelanders would choose to stay; the only downside is it’s about 15 minutes outside Saudarkrokur, but the peace and quiet more than compensate for the lack of city convenience.
