The best hostel we stayed at in Ecuador, right at the city entrance, just a few steps from the bus stop and less than a 5‑minute walk to the stunning Quilotoa lagoon; there are a few restaurants and markets nearby, though they all close very early, so try to dine by 18:00‑19:00 at the latest; the night is freezing, but the lodge is lovely and cozy, the breakfast is spot‑on with fruit, eggs, yogurt, bread, the shower is hot, and the bed is comfortable and warm.
“Très beau séjour”
A very family‑friendly vibe, we even played a great game of Uno with the owners’ son; the room was beautiful, clean, with a nearly private covered terrace and an amazing view, yet it gets very cold at this altitude, the walls and windows aren’t well insulated, and the room’s supplemental heater kept us from getting too cold.
Close to the lagoon, a very nice place, comfortable, and the staff who welcomed me were very friendly.
“Muy bonito para ir en verano”
The place is very pretty, the breakfast is tasty, and the service is good, but it isn’t ready for the cold; there was only one heater in the room that turned off when the lights were switched off, and there was just one outlet.
“Sugerencia”
Its rustic style and plenty of natural light are great, but at 4000 m above sea level the cold is intense and hot water for showers is almost nonexistent.
