“Fabulous location to relax and wind down.”

We loved the location. The view was fabulous and the atmosphere very relaxing. We also enjoyed every dining experience, with breakfast each day and a lunch and dinner there.

Location. It would have scored higher if the service at the outdoor lunch bar was better. We had to wait one hour before we got the good. Also at the pool there was NO clean beach towels . It ended up that we had to get our towels from bed rooms. The heap of dirty beach towels stayed there whole day. That is not 5 star hotel service. However the meals at the Rabelo restaurant was amazing

“A hotel with a 5 star view and a great location, but...”

The view from the room of the Douro River and vineyards was fantastic, and the pool was nice with a great view. We liked the breakfast room and the options presented; the breakfast staff were attentive and polite. There was plenty of parking for our rental car, and the location was central for port tastings. The only downside was that, aside from the breakfast servers, the staff felt a bit unfriendly compared to other hotels on our trip. The bar staff were very unfriendly, and in one instance a bit rude to my wife. Pool service was terrible: towels were often missing, and getting a drink required calling and waiting forever. Be careful with the wooden lounge chairs, as a few were in such bad shape that someone could get hurt. Finally, the room was worn, with peeling wallpaper, gaps in the trim board, and it was not a 5‑star room.

“The room was dirty. Windowsills had bugs and dirt on them. Carpeting was stained. Bugs in room.”

The location outside was really great, and the food was good.
