Everything was fine, but getting there was a nightmare: the road is impossible to navigate 😕😕😕 and there’s a lot of traffic in such a small town 😩😩😩.

“Great hotel, for beginners.”

The hotel is gorgeous from start to finish, with a classic yet modern vibe that preserves the villa’s legacy. All three restaurants serve some of the best food I’ve ever tasted, and I’d return just to eat again. The rooms are spread throughout the property in a pleasant way, giving a homely feel as you stroll on the grass and enjoy the views, almost like your own villa. Service was outstanding, living up to the Mandarin standard. However, if you stay late or enjoy midnight hours, reconsider: there’s no activity, no room service after midnight, not even fries after 11 pm—just a ham and cheese sandwich. If you’re hungry after hours, you’ll starve. This isn’t very Mandarin for me; I’ve stayed at many worldwide, and this after‑hours service fell short. We also toured the beautiful villas around Lake Como, and after seeing those, the hotel felt tiny compared to the others. Most famous Lake Como villas are huge, ten times larger than Mandarin, with majestic gardens. Mandarin tried to look grand, but it was no match.
