The restaurant was excellent and half‑board paid off, with breakfast also solid for the class and the region; the view of Lago Maggiore was superb. The bus stop is right outside the door and buses run every 30 minutes. The map location is misleading: although the straight‑line distance to Locarno’s center isn’t far, Orsalina sits almost 300 m above the lake, so the street and stair inclines are steep. That’s not a criticism but something to know. Regular bus service makes walking fine, but if you want to ride a road bike up the hill after a drive, it’s brutal exercise, and buses don’t always take bikes. A quick walk to a supermarket isn’t possible either.
