“Excellent host. Great location for ski buses and near to town center for restaurants.”

Sunrise Meiji‑ya, a 2‑star ryokan in Nozawa Onsen, blends traditional charm with modern convenience. Guests enjoy tatami‑floor rooms, free Wi‑Fi, shared bathrooms stocked with toiletries, slippers, and a TV. The ryokan sells ski passes, offers free private parking, and sits steps from the ski slopes. Its proximity to Matsumoto Airport (119 km) makes travel effortless.

The location is perfect – the village is small and a cozy spot for skiing and snowboarding. We stayed four nights at the end of the season. The beds are wonderful, though the buckwheat pillow was a bit odd at first. The facilities are old‑fashioned but clean. The bathroom is the onsen downstairs; we didn’t notice that when booking, which isn’t a problem for me but might be for others. The owner is very friendly and helpful. It was a nice place to rest after all the big cities we visited. The buckwheat pillow was a bit odd at first.

Staff had no problem letting us leave our luggage there before and after our stay, and the place is clean. The facilities are very very limited; the room has the bare minimum. The bathing experience was quite poor and the schedule was weird – you can only bathe from 4 pm to 10 pm.

The location is fantastic, in Nawasawa Onsen Village, just a 2‑minute walk to Kanda bus stop, which is convenient for self‑traveling skiers, and the price is reasonable.

The host was so kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place. I stayed in a Japanese‑style room; the Japanese futon was comfortable and the bed linens were spotless. They also have a bath you can soak in at the end of the day, but the public bath is all over the town – a 2‑minute walk to the nearest one. The main bus terminal and ski shuttle are short walking distance, and you can easily walk to the ski area. Everything was convenient. I wish there was a tea cup in the room.
