Econo Lodge Waite Park - St Cloud

It was close to downtown and my work, not fancy but not bad.

“Stay away from this one”

The price was great, but you get what you pay for. I arrived after 11 pm and had booked a quadruple room that wasn’t ready; the front desk said maintenance needed to replace a lamp and it would take about 10 minutes, which sounded specious. They offered me a single queen instead, no discount, and I accepted. Then someone—maybe the maintenance guy—asked the front desk what room they had given us, which seemed odd. The large window in the first‑floor room was open on arrival and I couldn’t shut it, making it feel unsafe. Many people were hanging out 30 feet from our window, so it was noisy and unsettling. One of the lamps didn’t work. The room was clean and bug‑free, but the carpeting in the room and hallways looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a decade. The hotel was very run down and sketchy at best, so I’d recommend finding another place if you can.

I found bed bugs in my unit and ended up with bites the next day; I called the front desk three times the following week to report the issue, was told a manager would call back, but never received a return call and the line was no longer answered; the front desk confirmed the room was still available for other guests and had not been treated.

“Did not stay there”

The place was very messy, so much so that it shouldn’t even earn a one-star rating; the windows were open, broken, and had items hanging out, giving it a very salami-like appearance.

I felt less safe than expected.
