“Relaxing and romantic”
We absolutely loved our visit, especially Sagar’s hospitality, which is by far the best we’ve encountered. Everything else was perfect.

This property is amazing, with a rich history about the Inn at Depot Hill. Each room is individually decorated in a vintage, unique style, and the customer service is fantastic. It’s a hidden gem just minutes from downtown Capitola, shopping, restaurants, and the beach. Owner Sagar greets you personally along with his little dog Groove, who everyone falls in love with; I called him the hotel ambassador. With a warm welcome and a wag of a tail, you feel at home and part of the family. Every morning a specialty breakfast is freshly made and well presented by long‑time chef Itzel. Our visit exceeded our expectations, and I highly recommend anyone looking for a stay in Capitola to visit the Inn at Depot Hill. I will definitely come back. Nothing could have been better.

The Inn at Depot Hill is charming, beautiful, and historically located, romantic and friendly. It lacks a traditional front desk and staff leave around 6 or 7 p.m.; we only found out after contacting them that for a late arrival they would leave our room and side‑door keys in a lockbox, and that our room was on the second floor. We had no trouble with the stairs, but this could be a serious issue for anyone with mobility limitations. The late check‑in process could be clearer; a short video showing where to find the lockbox, how to enter the property, and how to locate the rooms would be very helpful. We arrived around 11 p.m. and had a hard time finding our room because the layout isn’t straightforward. The breakfast selection was very limited; given the $650 nightly rate, I would expect a better offering, perhaps a small continental buffet where guests can serve themselves, with simple additions like boiled eggs and hash browns to make a meaningful difference.
