The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location felt really special. The music from the pub was insanely loud, literally sounded like the musician was in our rooms. We’d had no notice that this was going to be happening on the night of our stay. Between the late night music and the early morning rubbish and delivery trucks (at least we were warned about the latter!), none of us got a great night’s sleep

The views were lovely and the location was close to plenty of activities.

The spot is fantastic, especially if you snag a pet‑friendly room that opens onto the quayside; it comes with an outdoor table, two seats, and an umbrella. Inside, the room was tastefully decorated to a high standard, and we loved it so much that we’ve recommended it to everyone. The location was superb at the foot of the abbey steps, though keep in mind that parking works best at the main long‑stay car park in Whitby, about a 10‑minute walk away; that’s part of the charm since Whitby can’t fit many parking spaces, and I hope they don’t change that! ☺️ It was amazing!

The Duke of York is a great pub with very clean accommodation, located in a prime part of Whitby near everything you need. Breakfast was also very good and plentiful, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and truly nice. There is no parking at the hotel, but you can park a short walk away on Church Street for £13.10 per 24 hours. No problems at all with the hotel; we had a nice three‑day break and would definitely stay again.
