Rukiya Safari Camp sits beside the Blyde River in Wild Rivers Nature Reserve, 20 km from Hoedspruit. Tented suites feature en‑suite bathrooms, river or bush views, seating, linens, and complimentary toiletries. All meals are served in a communal dining area, with optional boma or private dinners. Guests enjoy bush walks, game drives, and sightings of hippos, crocodiles, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and impalas. The nearest airport is Hoedspruit Eastgate, 25 km away.

We found Rukiya to be the most remarkable stop on our entire South African trip. The staff’s personal touch, the fantastic guide Conright, the game drives, and sleeping in a luxurious tent that feels like you’re right in the middle of nature were unforgettable.

The riverside setting was lovely, the operation was small‑scale, the tents were nicely positioned, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The open floor of the tent, especially in the bathroom, felt a bit less appealing because of the insects. Wildlife sightings in the nearby reserve were limited. The morning safari was a 45‑minute drive on the highway; although this was mentioned during booking, it disappointed us and took up a lot of time.
