Casa Kandara

This place in east Sumba is amazing; after a full day of exploring you want to come back to comfort, food, water, a proper shower, and hot water—something missing in west Sumba. The accommodation feels like a spot in Bali, and the staff is incredibly kind, cleaning the room daily and leaving snacks for us. It’s super clean, has a huge pool, and a restaurant overlooking rice fields—definitely a winner. All payments are in cash except the room booking paid online. The beds, pillows, and sheets are the softest I’ve ever slept on. The only downside is that for those seeking a truly “authentic” wild‑mountain experience this is too modern, and some other guests can be noisy, but that’s unrelated to the property itself.

“Excellent rapport qualité/prix”

We spent four days at Casa Kandara. The staff were especially professional and warm, and the bungalows were well maintained. The property is tucked into nature and offers excellent comfort, notably a large, beautiful pool that’s extremely clean, though a bit cool because it’s shaded. Overall, great value for money.

“Très bon séjour , bel hôtel que je recommande .bonne situation .”

Breakfast was very generous with a wide selection of Indonesian and European options. The staff were competent, and a shower issue was fixed very quickly. They were very welcoming and responsive to our needs. The rooms and surroundings were clean, and the large pool was a highlight. The only downside was that the restaurant meals were a bit too spicy.

“Charmant hôtel”

It’s a great spot to explore the area before catching a flight to the airport (10 min away). The staff are charming, helpful, and full of little touches. The only suggestion would be to add mattresses on the wooden lounge chairs.
