“Very enjoyable stay in the Hebrides. VERY friendly people.”

The spot is spot on for the ferry, and the staff were genuinely helpful. Parking was a breeze, and the continental breakfast was basic but fine. One night we dined in the hotel and it turned out to be very good, plus the view from my window was fantastic. The room felt a bit tired; a fresh coat of paint and less scuffed furniture would do the trick, but otherwise everything was fine.

“Convenient for ferry”

Close to the ferry terminal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed linen and towels were very clean. The bedrooms had tired 1960s/70s furniture that needs to be replaced.

The hotel’s location is good, and it has an old‑school vibe in many respects. The facilities are worn out overall, though they stay reasonably clean.

I didn’t find much that I didn’t like about the Crown. The location and the small‑ish room were more than enough for my needs, the onsite restaurant was very good, and the staff were exceptional. Parking was a bit concerning at first because I didn’t realize that the South Beach Street parking was just around the corner and free; once I learned that, thanks to the Crown Inn staff, parking was no problem at all. The highlight of the stay was the staff—truly exceptional and highly appreciated. One thing to note: the Crown Inn sits in the heart of Stornoway, close to great bars and pubs, so if late‑night noise on a Friday or Saturday is an issue for you, it could be a drawback. After the crowds thin, however, it becomes very peaceful.
