This is like a five star hotel with more country charm than anywhere I have previously stayed in Tasmania. If you are looking for the perfect romantic getaway with a genuine Tasmanian culture you cannot go past the Exchange Beaconsfield. Loved the staff loved our room loved our stay. We enjoyed breakfast; the dining room is very comfortable. The room heating worked well, and we loved the four‑poster bed. The host was very friendly and we felt warmly welcomed in the tavern area when it opened.

The breakfast room was comfortable. The whole place was cold and noisy. All doors open with two handles at once, so you can’t hold anything. The bathroom is down the hall. I’m sure the listing didn’t say that? We’ve stayed in many old pubs, hotels, manor courses across Australia and the UK and none have been as cold and loud as this. Sorry but even though the host is lovely—neither my husband nor I recommend it.

The historic property was beautifully renovated, featuring a rare original Huon pine staircase leading up to the rooms. Our room was wonderful, with no detail spared. The linen and toiletries were high quality, and the bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed an evening in the bar with an extensive Tasmanian beer and wine list. Nothing to mention here; we loved it all.

The team was the friendliest, full of thoughtfulness and kindness. We loved everything (we had no issues, but note there are stairs to the rooms in case there are troubles with that).
