Hotel Caravelas, perched on Madalena’s coast of Pico Island, is bordered by the Atlantic on three sides and frames views of Faial Island and Pico Mountain. Air‑conditioned rooms open onto private balconies, each with flat‑screen TV, minibar and en‑suite bathroom.

The hotel was fantastic: a very extensive breakfast buffet, a spacious room, and a lovely shower with a bath; the staff were very friendly and towels were replaced daily; free bath towels were available by the pool and could also be taken to the beach, but the beds were a bit on the hard side.

The breakfasts were good and the pool was nice, but for a supposedly “4‑star” hotel it was really disappointing. There was no dining option besides the breakfasts, and on a Saturday at 5 pm by the pool I couldn’t get a cocktail because nobody knew how to make one.

Room was spacious, well equiped, clean, smelling good, breakfast very diverse and tasty. There are couple parking slots under hotel, or exactly as you exit from it in the back (a quite big public parking) and we always found space. Hotel stuff very friendly and paying special attention to our requests. We recommend the hotel
