Breakfast was okay, though it often ran out of items due to demand; I hope the coffee machine is finally fixed. Sound insulation between rooms, reception, and the dining area is poor.
“Would definitely stay again.”
The room and bed were comfortable, and the staff were very helpful. Getting to the City Centre was easy. The TV was unturned and had poor reception, and the breakfast lacked heat and eggs.
“Room good breakfast very good”
Breakfast was great with plenty of options, and a Park and Ride is close by.
“Extremely noisy neighbours made it impossible to get a decent sleep”
The staff are great. Location is convenient and free parking is a real plus. I got very little sleep as the people staying next door were talking very loudly, waking me up at around 3.30am. It was impossible to get any sleep after that due to the noise level which was excessive. I appreciate that this isn’t the hotel’s fault as such, however the room I was in had an interconnecting door with their room which made the noise even worse, and there was no sound proofing at all from the noise going through to the hall and through my bedroom door when the guests were going in and out of their room through the night. When I asked a member of staff to help at 5.30am (I tried stuffing pillows under the door and using ear plugs before resorting to wandering around the hotel to look for help) he knocked on their door straight away which thankfully gave me an hour of peace and quiet before other guests got up for breakfast from 6.30am. I’ve stayed at this hotel several times before and had positive experience so this was very disappointing and very frustrating as I had to do a 6 hour drive after minimal sleep. If I stay again I shall ask for a room without an interconnecting door to another guest’s room
“Great stay for 2 nights, could have stayed longer but had already booked in Wales.”
The hotel’s location was excellent, spotless, quiet, and very near the Park and Ride into York’s centre. Breakfast was excellent, hot, and offered many choices. The only issue was that the double bed was small; reception offered a twin room, which was fine. I’m dairy‑free and told the young receptionist on Sunday, 13/9/26 at tea time, who promptly brought me a carton of soy milk—ideal. We chatted, and he was very pleasant and gave good advice about York, which we were unfamiliar with. A really good place to stay; highly recommend. The double bed is the standard size in all Holiday Inn Express hotels, as the receptionist mentioned.
