I'm giving this hostel 1 star for the following reason. I was sitting and working on my laptop in the lobby, the common area, when a staff member at Fabrika Hostel came over at 3 PM and told me I was no longer allowed to work on my laptop after that time. Apparently, if you want to use your laptop after 3 PM, you have to pay an additional 30 GEL per day! I've never encountered anything this ridiculous in my life. You're allowed to sit in the common area, but you're not allowed to open your laptop? I've stayed in dozens of hostels, and I've never seen a policy like this before. It's a COMMON AREA, so shouldn't guests be free to use it as they wish, as long as they're not disturbing anyone? **A warning to remote workers and digital nomads: be aware of this policy before booking this hostel.**

“Hostile, unwelcoming, not built to hostel but for party”

If you’re in your early twenties and want to party with locals all night, this place is right in the hotspot for parties. The building is huge because it used to be a Soviet sewing factory. There are many toilets and showers, so you won’t have to wait long, and bedding and floors are generally clean. The hostel isn’t the main focus of the building; it’s also a coworking space, a hub for shops and restaurants, a spot for late‑night partying, and only at the very end is it a hostel. There’s no kitchen, the main area isn’t meant for hostel guests to hang out, and there’s very little infrastructure to help travelers meet and socialize. The showers require you to press a button every 30 seconds for water. From Friday to Sunday you’ll hear blaring music all night long. The bunk beds lack curtains. There’s no free drinking water—you have to pay for everything, and the food in the lobby is all overpriced. All Fabrika staff are really rude and unhelpful. The coffee shop in the main lobby told me I couldn’t eat my own food in the space, even though I bought a drink and was staying at the hostel. So there’s a lot of competition between vendors, it feels alienating, and hostel guests are not welcomed. I don’t think they really want tourists there; they just want your money to stay overnight and provide the least services possible.
