The front desk guy was nice, and overall it was a good stay, though everything was fine.

“It was like a fairytale.....Grim.”

The bathroom was clean, but the TV remote didn’t work properly—volume and channels were unresponsive, the TV stand was cracked and a corner was broken, the outside doors wouldn’t lock so it wasn’t very safe, the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, and breakfast was thin and grim.

Honestly, there wasn’t anything I liked about the property. I had to call to get a receptionist to check me in and wait for her to come from another building, which was strange and a bit annoying. When I checked in she demanded a card or cash for the deposit, and when I handed her the card she asked if it worked in a way that felt rude; I said yes because I booked the room with it, but I’d rather have used cash so I wouldn’t give them my card info. The room wasn’t what I had requested, so I waited with my wife and kids for the manager to resolve it, and he at one point said “well I just work here,” which felt like a lack of ownership. The upstairs floor, only accessible by stairs, had a strong cigarette‑smoke odor that seeped into the non‑smoking room; my wife found wrappers, candy pieces, and other trash on the floor before I entered. The room itself was okay except for being filthy. At checkout I got my cash deposit back after telling them it was cash, but the whole point of the deposit is moot if the room isn’t checked. I’ll never return and will warn anyone who asks.
