“Gutes Hotel, unfreundlich für Fahrradreisende”
A nice old hotel in the old town, a large, pleasant room, a lovely lobby and bar. Unfortunately, we had a shamefully bad experience with the reception. The staff speak very poorly English and compensate with authoritarian behaviour. It was about a secure parking spot for our bikes, which they denied us with bureaucratic excuses. We’ve never had anything like that in 20 years of bike holidays across Europe and in the last 4 weeks in Spain/Portugal. The management that was called in by phone was also stubborn. For a hotel of this standard, it was simply embarrassing. Only thanks to the bold and diplomatic intervention of the friendly doorman could a solution be found in the end. The fact that we leave with a good memory of this hotel is entirely due to him. He saved the situation. We recommend the hotel management to have on‑site presence, customer orientation, and proper reception training.
