The rooms, the view, the service, and the quietness of the place were all excellent. Ranger Lisa was amazing, and we saw a ton of wildlife. I’ll recommend this spot to anyone heading to South Africa.

Mark's Camp Family Lodge, situated in Paterson, is a family-friendly safari lodge overlooking a scenic waterhole, offering wildlife sightings from the lodge itself. Discreetly fenced, the camp provides a safe environment for children to explore. The camp sits in a lovely spot and everyone on the staff and in the guides did a fantastic job. The food fell a bit short, and an extra safari vehicle would help cut down on the crowding.

The room was fantastic, the shared areas were lovely, everything was clean, and the food and service were great. The reserve was big with plenty of game to spot. When the weather turned bad, there was nothing to do between drives except the pool, and no alternatives were offered to pass the time from 10 to 3.

I felt like a king, the food was superb, the staff were very friendly and attentive, the rooms were cleaned several times a day, the pool area was nice for relaxing, and the safari rides were great with many different animals; we were only 4 or 6 people on the safari and could enjoy them. Children are allowed, but it would be more pleasant without them.

The lodge’s quietness, gorgeous setting, attentive service, and very friendly staff really stood out. With only eight suites, the place feels very calm and exclusive. Guests share a large, beautiful table that creates a pleasant, personal vibe and sparks conversation easily. The safaris were an absolute highlight; the evening Sundowner ride through nature was simply fantastic, and the morning safari was impressive – we even had the fortune to spot all the Big Five. The guides were superb, making the experience perfect with their knowledge and enthusiasm. In the suite, we occasionally saw small bugs, which is understandable given the mid‑forest location and hard to avoid entirely.
