“Prima hotel voor een tussenstop”

We booked Gasthaus Post as a stop on our return trip and it turned out to be a fine hotel. It’s a bit dated, but everything was tidy and well kept. Our room was spacious and clean, the beds were great, and the bathroom was neat. We also had a large balcony, but bad weather kept us from using it. We did notice that when neighbours smoked on their balconies, the smoke drifted easily into our room if the door or window was open—something the hotel can’t really control. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our stay because of a holiday, and we didn’t see that when booking; the hotel’s confirmation email did mention it, but we’d already booked by then. Luckily, Landgasthaus Adler in Goldbach is less than five minutes away by car for excellent food, with friendly people and great cuisine—absolutely recommended! The breakfast disappointed us a bit; after many stays in German hotels we expected more. The rolls were stale and the spread of fillings was limited. Maybe it was because the restaurant was closed at the time, but we missed the fresh German rolls and a wider selection. Parking is easy at the hotel. Overall, a tidy and good accommodation for a layover, with a roomy room and good beds, but breakfast was the only real downside.
