We three of us stayed in a bright, roomy triple on the upper floor, and the kitchen was generous enough for cooking. A quick walk down the hill takes you to a stunning surf beach, and everything was spotless and comfy. The only hiccup was that there was just one shower downstairs, so we had to wait the first night. Other than that, it was flawless!

The facilities were complete and convenient, and the house had a very homely vibe. At night, bugs crawled everywhere and in large numbers, so a little pest control would have helped. On the last night I woke to a huge spider on the ceiling; I had to open the door and pray it would climb out on its own – it was terrifying.

Free bicycles are a real bonus since the nearest convenience store is a fair distance away. The beaches are nice, the spot is well‑located, and the locals are friendly. The room and everything else were solid. It’s a great summer getaway. I did encounter a huge spider in my room and wild boars blocking the path to Shimoda in the evening, but that’s to be expected around here – it was quite the adventure.
