“A magical escape where the rainforest meets the ocean”
Sundy Praia feels like a hidden gem tucked in the rainforest, just a few steps from the beach, giving a peaceful, exclusive vibe that’s truly unique. The food was excellent and made the stay even more memorable. I would have liked a small gym or yoga studio, but otherwise everything was wonderful.
“Paraíso”
The scenery was the main attraction. The staff were friendly but not very professional.
“Aucun sens du service.”
What I appreciated most was the lush nature surrounding the hotel, which truly feels tucked into the wilderness. However, the value for money was terrible and we left Sundy Praia very disappointed. The only activity we managed to do was a group tour of the island’s north and Santo Antonio, nothing exclusive. The boat trip cost €45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a fee not mentioned on the website, and a guide later offered a private boat ride for €600—yes, six hundred euros! When I asked about yoga classes, the receptionist, looking surprised, said none were offered. We also couldn’t get the complimentary massage we were supposed to receive because the therapists were in training. Angry, I asked to speak with the manager; he arranged a one‑hour boat outing and a visit to another HBD PRINCIPE hotel. The property suffered frequent power cuts despite having a generator, and the interruptions were noticeable. On the day we went to Principé, we were shuttled in a Prado 4×4 with only two couples because the bus broke down. Given how much we spent, the whole experience left us deeply dissatisfied.
The Sundy Praia stay felt unforgettable; its hidden spot inside a closed forest right on a dream beach places it among the “secret spots” we’d love to see preserved forever. The staff, however, are the real highlight—always cheerful, always helpful, always present, and they know the island’s history and nature better than anyone in a comparable hotel. The only downside was how quickly the visit ended.
“Espectacular”
The food was fantastic and the staff were very attentive. The pool was not heated.
