Axel Guldsmeden, an eco-friendly hotel in Copenhagen's Vesterbro district, offers a charming blend of Nordic and Balinese design. Located near Tivoli Gardens and Central Station, the hotel features a rejuvenating spa, lush courtyard, restaurant, bar, and conference spaces. With 212 rooms, including penthouse suites, it boasts Green Globe and Green Key certifications, organic breakfast, and a serene oasis for relaxation.

The entrance and reception area were very pretty, the courtyard lovely, and the room great even though it was small. The bed was pushed against the wall, making it hard for a single person to get in and out. The bath was also awkward to enter and exit, and water splashed onto the floor, making it slippery each morning after our shower.

The location is superb—just a 5‑minute walk with luggage from the main station, making the link to the airport quick and convenient. The entire hotel operates in an “ECO” style, from the furnishings and toiletries to the bar’s bio‑drinks, which felt fresh and new, especially the bio‑cola. The eco‑gym and its décor, matching the rest of the hotel, left a strong impression. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We used the luggage storage, spa, and fitness facilities. Although we skipped breakfast, lunch at the restaurant was delicious. The hotel has many cozy corners with sofas and chairs where you can relax with coffee or a drink. The rooms are clean, well‑furnished, cleaned daily, and come with high‑quality bio‑toiletries. A cheaper option exists in Copenhagen, but if I ever return to Denmark’s capital, I would definitely book a room at Axel Guldsmeden again. The only downside was an unpleasant odor coming from the shower drain in one bathroom.

The hotel looked stunning and was tastefully decorated; I especially enjoyed the balcony where I could sip coffee, the gorgeous bathroom stocked with organic cosmetics (which I could buy and layer), and the fact that it was only two steps from the main train station yet still felt safe at night. Nearby, Tivoli Gardens, the Glyptothek, and plenty of nice restaurants like Joanne's are all within walking distance, and the airport and Sweden are easily reachable from the train station. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and both the restaurant and spa were fantastic. The room was a little small and the wardrobe was in the bathroom, which I didn’t like; there was no window in the bathroom, so the clothes would get damp if left there, so I kept everything in my suitcase or on a chair in the bedroom.

The location was perfect, the interior beautiful and premium‑feeling, and the front desk staff were very smiley and friendly. The room products were excellent, and I’d stay here again on my next trip to Copenhagen. Nothing to complain about; I just wish I could have stayed a bit longer because it was a great place to start and end my day.
