Located beside the Marsdorf Business Park in Cologne, the 4-star-superior Mercure Hotel Köln West offers modern rooms with Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and desks. The hotel features a spa with indoor pool, sauna, and gym, as well as a Les Créateurs restaurant with terrace and a Vis-à-Vis bar serving fine wines. The Marsdorf underground station is a 3-minute walk away, and Cologne Cathedral is 30 minutes away by underground.

Breakfast was very good, fresh, tasty, beautifully presented, and included everything that makes a great hotel breakfast; the rooms were nice and the location was very convenient for starting out at the chosen attractions in Cologne. However, we found the shower in the tub uncomfortable; the tub floor was slippery, and as an older guest, you quickly feel insecure. Getting in and out of the tub is still possible at our age, but once you’re inside it’s quite risky because of the slip hazard.

The beds are good and the parking lot is large.

The hotel is a nice spot close to the track, with a welcoming and polite staff, and nearby a cluster of supermarkets. The location is convenient and there’s free parking along the road. The pool and sauna are quite small, so a few little kids and relaxation can be forgotten because everything is flooded with water and noise.
