The atmosphere of this camp is great. We felt like family with Mohamed, Mustafa and Abdul, warmly welcomed, friendly, always cheerful. Once we cooked and ate together! I can’t think of any negatives! Maybe the morning was disturbed by the cooing of pigeons. The ride into the desert, 1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back, wasn’t worth it for the sunset; you can also experience it on foot, at most for the fun.

“Authentic, stylish and small scale camp to enjoy Erg Chebbi dunes”

We loved the small scale of the camp, the stylish, warm and nicely decorated family tent, the friendliness and responsiveness of the staff. Lovely seating areas in the dunes and 2 sandboards available to have some action. The staff did their best with a fresh and original diner and with fun, live music at the firepit. I had a huge cold and they helped me by providing hot water and herbs to unblock my nose and calm things down. We had a nice and private camel ride in the morning at sunrise. We got up before the sunrise and got seated on a dune to enjoy the sunrise with just the 4 of us. The camel (dromedare) guide was discreet, kind and made really lovely family photos for us. We also chose a half day guided adventure with 4WD to the nomads for a kind encounter and invitation for tea and berber pizza, drove to the lake, the abandoned village with old mine, had a fantastic ride across the dunes and a walk at the Merzouga palmgrove. Truly enjoyed this. When walking to the top of the dunes for sunset, we could see some other larger camps at walking distance. However they were not visible from the grounds of the pueblo touareg camp itself. If you expect full privacy in completely deserted dune landscape like in a large dessert, this is not the case. However, the camp was still much more intimate, less touristic and more authentic than other camps. And we really enjoyed the atmosphere and changing light in the dunes. We would definitely recommend it to fellow travellers.

The property was kept in excellent condition—clean, comfortable, and very welcoming. The rooms were lovely and gave us a great night’s sleep, setting a relaxing tone for the stay. The food was another highlight: a delicious four‑course dinner followed by a generous buffet‑style breakfast, both exceeding expectations. We also did a sunset camel ride, which was particularly memorable—peaceful, scenic, and well worth it. Most of the staff were genuinely warm and attentive, adding positively to the overall experience. However, our expectations were high because of the exceptionally high reviews, so some aspects felt disappointing. The €25 per person transfer fee was mentioned in advance via email, but it wasn’t made especially clear during the booking process, and we didn’t realise this charge would apply every time we needed transport to and from the property. This made even a simple trip into town—especially for lunch, which isn’t included—feel unexpectedly expensive. Some advertised activities were misleading; for example, quad biking actually takes place in town and requires an additional transfer fee. When we tried to clarify these details during our stay, the information felt unclear and somewhat unstructured. We also found one of the main staff members to be quite dismissive when we asked questions, which made us uncomfortable asking for clarification—especially given how unclear some arrangements were. The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Additionally, certain experiences highlighted—such as campfires and music—didn’t take place during our visit. It’s possible these are only arranged on request, but this wasn’t communicated to us, and we had expected a more proactive approach. Overall, while we did enjoy the stay and found the property itself lovely, the number of additional costs and lack of clarity around them left us slightly disappointed by the end. It created the impression that the experience could quickly become much more expensive than expected, detracting from an otherwise enjoyable visit.
