Kyukamura Shonai-Haguro

The three‑storey building had an elevator that never caused any hassle, and although there’s no private bath, the large public bath nearby was clean and easy to reach; the rooms were spacious, calm and tidy, and the meals—both kaiseki and buffet—were tasty without being over‑the‑top, with a memorable rice tasting and a great breakfast with a view. The staff treated us wonderfully.

I was impressed by the staff’s attentive service and found both dinner and breakfast very satisfying, especially the breakfast buffet which offered so many items that even a big eater like me couldn’t finish everything. The only downside was a lingering musty smell from the building’s age, which was understandable.
