The listing was way off – the bathroom is actually outside, there’s no internet or TV even though it was advertised, and the parking space is practically unusable. In winter the place was freezing because there’s no heating, there’s no kitchen or any basic amenities, and the window looks out onto a wall of rocks and a ditch.

The hosts were incredibly friendly, greeting us with schnapps, tea and coffee as soon as we arrived. Their sweet cat Kikki and a dog named Chiro instantly won over our two lady dogs and us, so we’re definitely planning to return.

Communication with the owner before arrival was spot‑on, and the room was clean, well‑equipped and already heated when we got there – thanks for that. The only gripe is the bathroom, which is missing a shower curtain.

We fell in love with the natural surroundings, the genuine locals and the hospitality on offer. However, the toilet is really cramped for anyone tall, and the windows don’t have any mosquito nets.
