Located just off Interstate 283, the Super 8 by Wyndham Harrisburg Hershey West sits six miles from downtown Harrisburg, offering free Wi‑Fi, a grab‑and‑go breakfast, and a 24‑hour front desk with copy, fax, and free parking. Rooms feature cable TV, mini‑fridge, work desk, light décor, and wood accents. Nearby attractions include Hershey Park (11 mi) and the National Civil War Museum (10 min).

The beds themselves were fantastically comfortable, and having an exterior entrance and exit on the side of the building that my room was closer to was appreciated because it let me park closer and had less distance to carry things back and forth from the room after a long day of work. The check‑in experience was greatly hampered by a policy specific to this Super 8 that is buried in the small fine print of the booking, catching me off guard along with two other guests checking in at the same time. Even though my room was paid in advance with a credit card on file, the property still required a $100 deposit upon check‑in on top of the rate, whether the customer is cash or has a major credit card on file and a prepaid room. The deposit was returned without issue, but I had to step away from the check‑in process to make individual arrangements to secure that unexpected deposit. I chose this hotel for its closer location to where I was working and its budget‑friendly rate, and that abstract is likely why a majority of visitors select a budget hotel. If you’re not expecting to have an additional $100 to spare for a few days for that deposit hold, you can face what I faced and the potential of having to find a place to stay after the prepaid room is gone. I understand hotel policies are individual to properties and I respect their discretion, but the lack of transparency in that policy being so completely buried in the fine print is something I will keep very close eye on for future bookings and will definitely avoid selecting this property again on any future visits to Harrisburg.

The location was great, the bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the staff were nice. Overall cleanliness was 8/10. The Wi‑Fi was bad, dropping in and out every minute. The bathroom needed a new shower curtain and caulk all around the bath. For the price it was 7/10.
