Dora is the heart of Macabi Hostel – full of energy, always friendly and makes you feel right at home. The breakfast was delicious and the shared spaces are pleasant spots to hang out. Honestly, I liked everything about the place and would definitely come back.

The spot in Taganga is super handy and the hosts are incredibly warm and helpful, plus the kitchen access let me cook my own meals. Breakfast was simple but decent. The downside is the town can get noisy at night with parties and even roosters crowing early.

Staff are nice, the hostel feels quiet and safe, and the bed was comfortable with a few decent common areas. It’s tucked in a part of Taganga that isn’t the nicest to walk around, though it’s only about a ten‑minute bus ride from Santa Marta and close to the beach. Unfortunately, some guests smoked, so the dorms sometimes smelled of cigarette smoke.

We spent two nights in a double room for my brother’s birthday and the whole experience at Macabi was wonderful. The staff were extremely kind, which made our time in Taganga much more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back someday.

The staff provide great service and the breakfast is insanely tasty. The lady running the place is an absolute sweetheart. I left feeling very satisfied.
