I met very nice people and staff at a very old pub, and the location was great; I enjoyed the stay and the bath. Breakfast was okay, but the staff were overwhelmed. The breakfast area turned into chaos with not enough staff, glasses, or tea mugs. The rooms feel very dated, and the price per night should be £20 cheaper for what you get.

The pub’s central location was spot on and the rooms were reasonably priced, especially for single occupancy, though the small doubles felt a bit cosy. It worked well as our base while walking the Ridgeway. Breakfast was a little limited but fresh and tasty, while supper was a bit uninspired and the salad had run out entirely. It would have been nice to have lounge chairs to relax after our walks instead of bar tables and chairs, but we were staying in a pub rather than a hotel and the staff were friendly.

The location, breakfast, and price were all good, but the bathroom was quite cramped and open to the bedroom—I’d prefer a door between the toilet and bedroom.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the mattress was uncomfortable and the bed was super squeaky; a new bed and mattress would probably help.
