The owners greeted us warmly and the breakfast was tasty, but the room fell short on cleanliness: the lamp lacked a bulb, the wall behind it was dusty, the radiators were grimy, and the quilt cover had faint blood‑like stains. The shower was dirty with black around the joints, the sink fixtures were grimy, and the toilet roll holder was heavily rusted. We barely slept because the mattress springs were audible and the blinds didn’t block the bright outside light; we couldn’t close the curtains at all. Even if we had booked another night, we wouldn’t have stayed because the room needed updates—bubbled aertex and cracks were obvious. I snapped some photos and can share them with the owner if needed. Honesty is the best policy.

Bernice and Dave are so approachable that every visit feels like family. We always get our favorite themed room, and Bernice makes sure we’re settled; this time, due to high demand, we tried a different room and it was still very comfortable. The shower cubicle is adequate, free toiletries and slippers are provided, and the room has tea and coffee facilities plus nice furniture. Breakfast was delicious. I noted that almost every table in the room had special requests, and every one was fulfilled flawlessly, including my own. The hotel remains immaculate, always clean and tidy. The only downside was the departure at the end of our break.
