“Great location, lovely looking old building, bathroom update badly needed and the whole place needs a deep clean”
The location was old and quirky. Cleanliness was not good enough.
“Beautiful room right on High Street”
The room was gorgeous, right on High Street, and the spot was perfect for being in Guildford’s centre. We strolled along the Wey river, which was just a short walk from the hotel. The staff were friendly and helped us with everything we needed.
The room was big, clean, and the hotel was quiet. On our second day they gave us fresh water and linen. It was close to all the shopping.
“Nice central location, lots of character”
Lots of character, big bathroom. Bed was really soft. Great for some but I found it quite uncomfortable. Old building with very slanted floors! Fine for us but less mobile visitors might struggle. On premises bar was really nice when I first went to get drinks for our room. When we went to finish our drinks in the bar and return our glasses, the host said we had to literally return the glasses and leave, despite me telling them it was literally for 5 minutes before going to a party. I know there was a show due to start, but the bar was half empty so it felt a bit excessive and unfriendly after the warm welcome less than one hour earlier
“Value for money, perfect for single night stay”
The hotel’s central location, friendly staff, large room, and big double bed were great, and the price was a bargain. Breakfast at Bills was good. The room felt a bit tired and let us down with minor details: we had to crawl under the table to reach a plug socket for our charger, there was a crack in the basin, and the paintwork looked slapdash.
