The Japanese food felt out of the ordinary and tasted delicious; the mascot cat was adorable. The slippers in the bathroom snagged when the door was closed, which was a bit annoying.

The staff were very kind and the meals were good; the room was comfortable. The overall decor of the ryokan felt a bit outdated, and the men's indoor onsen could use a little refresh.

The location was good. The spa and bath facilities were far from what I expected.

The staff were very friendly and patient even though we only spoke limited Japanese. They were flexible, letting us have dinner later after we took longer than expected to get there. The place itself is very relaxing, with plenty to do. The private bath was especially very nice. Some areas could definitely use cleaning and dusting. It is very much out of the way compared to other locations in Hakone.
