“Average hotel”

Daily clean linens, a big TV, fridge, microwave, secure door lock, large bathroom, friendly night porter and maintenance man, plenty of parking, cheap price for a couple of nights. Not very clean: dusty spots, stains on walls and doors, a dirty cup under the bed, microwave dirty, TV channels had poor signal, free Wi‑Fi barely worked. The room was quite hot but had a fan. Pillows were hard, staff seemed stressed and unhappy, giving the impression the hotel is struggling to keep up with good standards.

“Would definitely stay again”

The man at reception was absolutely lovely; he kindly upgraded us to a suite, which was amazing. I couldn’t fault the hotel at all! Nothing else to add.

“You get what you pay for... treat yourself to somewhere a LITTLE nicer”

Cheap, clean sheets. Very fast, fuss‑free check‑in and check‑out. Free parking. Close to Wetherspoons. On one hand I don’t like to complain, especially for a very affordable place booked last minute, but this was disappointing even for the price. The headboard was chipped and worn out. A wall‑mounted hair dryer from the 1980s. The showerhead was broken (leaked around the base, so I took it off and used the hose). The period fireplace was full of dust and debris. The bathroom had a creepy cupboard with old pipes in it. The window wouldn’t shut properly. The hotel facilities like the bar were closed for renovation, which felt quite ghostly. I didn’t really like hanging around in the room, but thankfully Wetherspoons is only a 5‑minute walk away. Honestly it’s a fuss‑free place to sleep with a roof that I should be grateful for, but I wish I had splurged a little more and gotten a Premier Inn or an Ibis.

“Gorgeous suite”

I stayed in the Elizabeth suite and it was flawless – the décor and layout of the room itself were stunning, but the bath spa was broken and the coffee table was occupied by a tea station, so I couldn’t use it.
