Undoubtedly the proximity and willingness of the owners, Alejandro and Cristina (they picked us up on arrival), who feel like family, combined with the charm of the place, the energy that comes from such a natural spot, their original and delicious breakfasts, and especially the wonder of hearing the river water nearby, make choosing this stay a smart decision. It’s a place that reflects the passion and love of its managers, and its location is worth it. Highly recommended.

The rooms were very good. In the jacuzzi there were tadpoles in the middle of summer, so we couldn’t use it.

The stay at Refugio La Presa de Chulilla was a major letdown; the apartment we got was far older and more run‑down than the photos on the site, showing various defects. When we arrived, the lockbox with the keys was open and no staff were on hand. We tried calling and texting the place over and over, but received no reply. Our 240 € booking promised breakfast for two days, yet none was provided. After complaining during the stay, the owners admitted the fault and agreed in writing to refund us 180 € (75 % of what we paid). They told us the refund would be processed through Booking, but Booking later informed us they would not return the money, even though the owners had explicitly accepted the refund. We feel the accommodation was far below what was advertised and that the refund the owners promised has still not been received. The overall experience was disappointing because of the property’s condition and the mishandling of the complaint by Booking. We would not book here again and advise others to verify the real conditions before booking.
