“Good stay, very expensive”

The property was solid, not as large as we expected but still good. The room was a decent size and the entertainment was enjoyable, with the music band playing very nice songs. However, the food service was sluggish; it usually took 45‑55 minutes to receive meals, which was disappointing. Most buffet items ran out quickly, forcing a wait of at least 20 minutes, and even simple items like chapathi/roti required a 20‑minute wait. The local dishes were fine, but desserts such as cakes were quite poor. For a 5‑star hotel, we anticipated an international standard across all foods.

“A Lost opportunity to do much more ... Just surviving”

The room was fine and the staff tried to help. The property’s maintenance is extremely poor, appearing heavily underbudgeted. Mossy paths become very slippery in the rain, and lawns and gardens receive no upkeep. The bar was especially bad: no glassware for different drinks, whiskey sour served in a teacup and gin in the same teacup, which would upset anyone. The bar itself was poorly maintained, lacking sufficient lighting and new furniture. The place looks like an old property struggling to survive.

All the staff were friendly and considerate, offering the best level of care. The only downside was that the facilities were old, though they were kept clean and well managed.

The spot is spot-on—just outside the main town, not too far off yet still peaceful. The place feels luxurious and calm, and the staff are just as welcoming. I saw a lot of online complaints, but honestly, they’re great. It doesn’t carry the Taj name even though it’s part of the Inner Circle, so it might not be huge or elite, but the staff make up for that. Every single person was courteous and helpful. Breakfast and dinner times are set so everyone can fit in. We headed to Mullayanagiri peak at 5:15 am, knowing the checkgate 9 km away opens at 6 am, and we still made it back in time for breakfast, which runs until 10:15 am. I think people get too entitled when they read comments like “breakfast had fewer healthy options… Dude! What else do you want?” They actually had 50 items on the menu—salads, frittatas, baked goods, and fruits. I counted them. Just sheer audacity! Phew! I love, love, love the welcome coffee with lemon, and thanks to the gentleman running the Ayurveda/general tuck shop near the reception for the extra cup of joe! All in all, it was an extremely pleasant and serene stay. 100 % recommended!
