The property was filthy, clearly it had not been properly cleaned for a long time. There was dust everywhere and the shower curtain had a lot of mould on it. The “air purifier” was so dirty that we cleaned the filter ourselves, which had clearly never been cleaned, and it was still throwing up an error that it was blocked. The room also had a lot of damage, very poorly maintained. We didn’t even stay the night; we ended up having to leave because it was so bad. Now I am attempting to get a refund because I was not given a room to the standard I paid for, and the hotel is apparently ignoring it. I would never recommend anyone stay here.

I stayed in a traditional ryokan with Japanese design in a quiet residential neighborhood close to livelier areas. The tatami floor meant you slept directly on the mat, which isn’t ideal for a sensitive back, and while there was a kettle, the room didn’t include any tea or coffee packets.

The room was simple and lovely, with warm lighting and a very nice bath. The location was great—you could walk to several sights or hop on various public transport options. I would have liked a thicker mattress and coffee available in the room.

The room matched the pictures and the bathroom stood out as a design highlight. The elevator made moving our bags easy without stairs. The staff were super helpful when we had an issue and greeted us each morning as we left for the day. It wasn’t far from shops and nightlife, so walking to and from was convenient. The beds had very thin mattress pads on non‑fitted sheets, not much better than sleeping on the floor, but the staff were very accommodating and gave us an extra set to double up on padding when we asked.
