Lyth Valley Country House - Ridgestone

“Overall we had a great time at Lyth Valley House. The view from the balcony was my favourite thing.”

We came for a 60th birthday with 18 guests and had a great time creating memories. The house was perfect for a large group, offering plenty of space. The rooms were immaculate and well designed. We brought a dog who loved the big garden, though the garden wasn’t fully enclosed. The house was not far from Kendall and Windermere by car and had a great view from the balcony. The host was friendly and helpful with any issues. The bar and kitchen area were nice but could have used a deep clean. There was a dishwasher, but no dishwasher tablets, so we had to get some. When we arrived, there wasn’t a key for every room, so some of us had to share a master key, which wasn’t the most organized. Some rooms had plumbing problems; in my room the toilet water kept running all day and night. Although Kendall and Windermere were a short drive away, the house sits on the main road and isn’t within walking distance of shops or pubs. The steps down to the hot tub were steep and unstable, making them unsafe.

The space, location, and plenty of common areas are great. The bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely, though some need basic maintenance. The common areas, especially the bar, are great but could use an update, and the kitchen needs a thorough deep clean.

“Large house with beautiful views”

The open‑plan living room was ideal for the kids to run around. The outside verandah with beautiful views was amazing to sit and relax on. The children loved playing in the fields; it’s such a fabulous place to stay, and a bath in most bedrooms was a treat. I would stay here again. Windermere was only a 15‑minute drive away. My family highly recommends this place.

Great location and setting, very peaceful with beautiful views. The living areas and décor are lovely, and the bedrooms are well sized with facilities for large families or groups. The kitchen and bar area needed a deep clean, including utensils, glasses, and crockery.
