I booked for three days but only needed two, and I couldn't fix it myself, so I told the hotel and asked them to adjust it. At check‑in they took full payment for three days. When we protested, the receptionist said they would refund at checkout. No receipt or proof of payment was given. We asked for a written refund notice, and then they said they'd only give back 30%, which is 150 yuan. We checked in, and the room didn't match the booking; I had booked a single large bed, but they gave us a room with two beds. We went back to reception to swap to the correct room, which only worked with the help of local Chinese who invited us to the city. When my husband left, he returned the key and instead of the 150 yuan, they gave us 120 yuan in minty candies. The person who was supposed to pick us up from the hotel asked if we had been refunded. We told her we hadn't received the full amount. She went to reception, explained something, and they handed over the remaining money. 150 yuan is a small amount, but the lack of respect for guests is the real issue. Breakfasts were sparse, and there was a lot of broken crockery.
