I was walking to the beach in Wan Zao Mao, just a short stroll from the hotel, and the room was a tatami Japanese style that felt spacious and spotless; the air conditioning was brand new and excellent, plus they offered free coffee that was surprisingly tasty, water, and decent free shampoo and conditioner. The owner had a backpacker‑style vibe, a bit detached but still helped with luggage. The only downside was the lack of an elevator—stairs only go up to the third floor—so if you have a lot of bags, book a lower floor. The bathroom was tiny, and the toilet was almost touching the bathtub.
