“Falsche Zimmerkategorie, unaufrichtige Gastgeber”

The garden was charming and well‑maintained. The breakfast spread was small but tasty, though anyone wanting milk for coffee had to wait in vain. We booked a deluxe room with a river view and terrace, yet the host handed us a standard room (Room 7) without comment. The front desk said the booked category was unavailable and offered us Room 4 instead, which was smaller, had no river view but a terrace, so we moved there. Suddenly, they couldn’t speak English anymore. No compensation was offered, and the host promised to contact Booking, but didn’t. Booking later informed us that no agreement could be reached with the host. Other issues: minor repairs overdue, the room door handle fell off, long waits at reception, and twice in the evening on the terrace we were sprayed by the gardener. During breakfast, the host was asked by three guests about missing milk, pointed to a table that unfortunately had none.

The décor blends old and modern nicely. Cleanliness was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed could have been larger and offered more pillow options (they were too tall). Breakfast could have been more varied, though the quality and price were good. It would be useful if staff asked guests about dietary restrictions and provided alternatives.

The house is pretty, well restored, and has a lot of potential. The room itself was very good. There was a lack of staff, poor preparation, and they didn’t give me the invoice. It’s hard to see how these issues still happen today. At check‑in I waited many minutes for someone to appear at reception. The place felt abandoned, which is lamentable. At checkout I asked for the invoice as I always do, and the first thing they presented was the payment terminal charging for the stay, which had already been paid at booking, so I had to explain that I had paid. A few minutes later they said they would only send the invoice after Booking sent them the money, and if I wanted, I could call Booking. I did, and Booking contacted the hotel, which said due to logistics they couldn’t send the invoice, but if I called the hotel directly they would make an exception. I then called the hotel, they asked me to send the data (yes, the same as on the reservation and the ID card requested at check‑in) and promised to send it immediately. After several requests I still haven’t received the invoice. A negative note for Booking, which didn’t help resolve the issue.
