“Reconsider going to Maverick camp.”
The dinner was tasty, and it was a good chance to see off‑the‑beaten parts of Kenya. However, the value for money was terrible, so the accommodation was heavily overpriced given that the cottages were basic, had no working showers, no Wi‑Fi, only part‑time electricity, and no separate bathroom. The cottages were also dirty. Tours to Aberdare were overpriced, and the driving times to nearby attractions like Karuru waterfall were much longer than the owner claimed because of terrible road conditions. The road to Maveerick camp was a disaster; even our 4x4 Land Cruiser struggled to reach it. Although dinner was tasty, it was expensive and the restaurant was anything but cozy. We left after two nights even though we had a three‑night reservation. Maveerick camp was just too much for us.
