The place was fairly clean, but it felt more like a motel with the room door opening straight onto a busy industrial road and right next to railway tracks, no proper hotel corridor at all. Most guests were long‑distance drivers and tradespeople who basically camped with their gear in front of the rooms, which isn’t the hotel’s fault, yet as a woman I felt uneasy. The room was sweltering and couldn’t be aired without inviting swarms of flies and mosquitoes, since there were no screen nets on the windows. The bathroom light only came on via a motion sensor and stayed on annoyingly long, and there was just a single curtain separating the bath. The wall art did nothing to mask the container‑like construction. Overall I thought the price was far too high for what was offered.

Self check‑in is convenient. There is no air conditioning, which isn’t ideal in summer.
After staying in Burghaun, Aschersleben and Ampfing, Mayen was our fourth night in your chain and we had loved your Burghaun hotel last year and felt comfortable in Aschersleben as well, so the concept still works for us. This year, however, the rooms let us down: in Ampfing the table was badly scratched and the sink base had a chipped corner, and in Mayen the table was even more ruined with countless dents and water stains, the shower showed unsightly limescale, a towel was dirty, and both the sink and shower soap dispensers were empty, plus there was no dish towel. Clearly the room cleaning needs tighter supervision and more attention to maintenance.

The price‑value was great, the kitchenette was fully equipped for self‑catering, and parking was free right in front of the room. The only downside was that we didn’t have a physical key and had to unlock the door with a phone app. It could be problematic if you forget your phone when you need to grab something from the car.
