The spot in the heart of the Medina is great, and a big thanks to the young men who welcomed us warmly. The room, which was advertised as 20 m², actually measured far less, had no windows to the outside—just a tiny one overlooking the guard’s alcove and another above the door that serves no purpose. The hallway light and the blue stairwell light bother you when you try to sleep. Cleanliness was clearly lacking: we had to ask for bath sheets, one of which had large black stains (dirt, mold?), and there was no toilet paper. The toilet itself was completely wobbly. Over the three nights we only had one breakfast, which was mediocre: the table wasn’t cleaned, the butter was rancid, the fruit wasn’t washed, and the grapes were rotten. Finally, the taxes and fees charged were four times higher than elsewhere—€4 per person per night! The Riad was poorly signposted; there was no name above the front door (luckily passers‑by guided us).
