“Absolutely not”

Nothing. It used to be a normal hotel, but it is now a public homeless shelter and they haven’t updated their website. It’s a scam. They kept their ad from when it used to be a hotel, but it is now a public homeless shelter. There are social workers at the reception, and my Brazilian friend told me we absolutely couldn’t stay there because we were obvious targets: we weren’t homeless and had luggage, and the door to the room had signs of a previous break‑in, so we couldn’t leave the room and leave our passports and belongings there. We asked for a refund and the manager refused, so we had to open a complaint with Booking. I hope Booking will investigate and take down the listing.

“Pior noite ds minha vida!”

I was told the hotel doubles as a city shelter for the homeless and that nighttime noise could be an issue, but I could cancel without a fee. I had no other option so I stayed, and the receptionist charged me a single night’s rate just to see if I’d stay, which turned into the worst night ever. The disrespectful staff shouted inside the hotel, and street people sat outside, using drugs. That night there was shouting in the hotel and loud noises from the room above that sounded like someone pounding something hard on the floor; the key to my door rattled so much I filmed it for my wife. The room looked dirty, something I’d rather not mention. The TV was wireless and wouldn’t turn on. The bathroom was apparently clean but the walls were so filthy that I was disgusted to use it for anything. I slept in a dirty room. As soon as a friend found another place, I fled.
