“Wish I could stay longer! Best place in Bali so far :)”

I’ll never forget this place—it felt like home. I was traveling from Uluwatu to Ubud and it was so authentic that I only felt I was in Indonesia when I arrived at Pondok Ayu Soca. I even got emotional; there’s a special energy, especially in the garden. My room was gorgeous, with a carved wood door leading to the balcony. The property is surrounded by rice fields and palm trees, making the scenery magical. The staff were more than friendly, and I have nothing to complain about. I had a different breakfast each morning, made to order, and everything was tasty and fresh, including the Bali coffee. Thank you, and I hope to see you again.

“Les lézards font la loi”

The staff were friendly and tried to help within their means, but they couldn't do more; we asked them to get the lizards out because of a phobia, they tried with a broom, then offered other rooms but the same issue persisted. When we tried to cancel, they showed their real side: “not possible, you’ll be penalised by Booking, cancel yourself.” The location was decent, but the hotel is far away and you really need a car to get there. Breakfast was always the same, and the place is only suitable for one or two nights. There was no sound insulation; the windows and French doors let in reptiles—lizards of all colours and shapes in the room and outside, plus cockroaches and 1000‑legged bugs. We had to put cardboard on the door frames to block the lizards (photo).

It was very cozy and nice, with a hint of Balinese flavour. The staff were amazing, always ready to accommodate us. They lent us blankets for Mt Batur because we didn’t have warm clothes, were very attentive—when I was swimming in the pool and it started to rain, they moved my towel under the roof, brought us something for mosquitoes in the evening, asked if they could tidy up, and brought new towels. The only issue was ants, but it wasn’t a big problem for us.

The location isn’t far from the centre, and the breakfast options are limited but the coffee is good. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. The bathroom and items were a bit old, that’s all.

The breakfast was generous and tasty. The staff were very nice and helpful. A small, human‑sized hotel. Nothing to complain about.
