The staff were very helpful, the location was excellent for me, close to Manipal Hospital, and the room was a good size, but the walls of the room could use a fresh coat of paint and the laundry service needs improvement—grey bed linen and bath towels.

The worst hotel we stayed in India, very grubby and run down, the rooftop restaurant is a joke; the only good point is that the hot water worked, so a score of 1 is a bit too high! The Fab Hotel Park Inn changed our booking to the Fab Oakwey at short notice, claiming it was the same standard and since we had already paid we had little time to find another place. This hotel is awful, sits between a smelly rubbish dump and a run down area, rats and feral dogs abound. The room was tired and grubby and we had to ask a staff of disinterested young boys for basics like towels and cups. The view from our room was a wall, barely 1 metre away, though the window opened to let in mosquitoes, as the AC was totally ineffectual and probably hadn’t been serviced in years.

The only thing that worked was the location and the view from outside; everything else was a disappointment. The room lacked a fan because the ceiling is low, leaving only an AC that doesn’t work well in winter. The bathrooms were mediocre and water trickled from the taps, while cobwebs were present in the room.
