The staff were very friendly, the room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of storage space, plus a table and two chairs for eating in the room. The small balcony looked out onto a tree‑lined street. The building is not far from the city centre and Santa Maria Novella train station. The whole floor shares one bathroom – the shower is small, supplies are scarce, and the hairdryer is very slow and ineffective for long hair. We were not told that the staff doesn’t really speak English; the woman who greeted us immediately switched to Italian, as if she didn’t work with foreign tourists. My girlfriend told her she understood some Italian and could speak a little, but the staff definitely needs to learn basic English and inform guests beforehand. The area feels a bit sketchy if you’re walking alone at night from the city centre, so a cab is advisable. If you’re sensitive to noise, avoid rooms that face the street because traffic is extremely loud and unbearable. Additionally, you only receive one towel per person at check‑in, and the towels, bed sheets, and pillowcases all smelled a bit stale, as if they hadn’t been washed properly.
